What is pick by light?

The pick by light picking technology does not start with the warehouse employee, but with the warehouse itself. With the help of light signals and digital displays, the order pickers are shown at which point in the warehouse the articles are to be picked and in what quantity. The picking process can then be confirmed by pressing a key. The advantages of this method are the high mobility of the warehouse workers, a reduced susceptibility to errors and the simplification of goods picking. Disadvantages are the high costs for introduction and maintenance of the system and the low flexibility.
