What is a block storage used for?

In block storage, goods are stored directly on the floor, side-by-side and stacked on top of each other in large blocks. Only the topmost and outermost units are directly accessible.

Advantages:

• Low investment costs
• Minimal personnel and space requirements
• Few site requirements
• High flexibility and low susceptibility to failure

Disadvantages:

• Only homogeneous goods can be stored (same item, batch number, expiration date, etc.)
• Only LIFO (Last In, First Out) is possible
• No automation options
