What happens in a goods issue?

Goods issue processes involve both material and information flows, with the movement of goods taking priority.
Once goods are placed in the outbound staging area, the following tasks are performed:

  • Identity and quantity checks
  • Possible rejection of goods if quality checks fail
  • Order picking and packaging
  • Preparing and sealing the shipment
  • Creating shipping documents
  • Transport scheduling
  • Staging for dispatch
  • Loading onto the transport vehicle

Extended storage of goods in the outbound area does not usually occur.
