What is meant by the term LIFO?

LIFO is a picking method where the most recently stored item is the first to be removed.
The storage process is called “push,” and the retrieval process is called “pop.”

Common LIFO-compatible storage types:

  • Block storage
  • Drive-in racking

Advantages:

  • simple to implement
  • helps prevent fraudulent profit manipulations

Disadvantages:

  • ineffective in industries with expiration dates or cold chains (e.g., food, pharmaceuticals)
  • cannot be used where FEFO or FIFO is required
