The most commonly used methods include:
With the traditional Pick-by-Paper method, paper slips with relevant information and manual inventory searches are used. Pick-by-Scan replaces paperwork by registering items using handheld devices and is currently one of the most effective methods for assembling goods reliably, efficiently, and quickly. Pick-by-Voice adds an auditory element – pickers receive instructions via headphones, keeping both hands free for the picking process. Pick-by-Light, on the other hand, uses visual cues: illuminated shelf indicators guide pickers to open positions.
