EPG Recognized in the 2026 Gartner® Market Guide for Vehicle Routing and Scheduling for EPG’s Greenplan

As per our understanding, the report highlights growing demand for vehicle routing and scheduling solutions that improve service, reduce fleet costs, and respond to unexpected delivery changes. It defines core capabilities as territory planning, static, dynamic, and real-time routing, scenario modeling, and dispatch, while also emphasizing sustainability, electric-vehicle support, and fit with an organization’s fleet, industry and technology landscape. 

Greenplan was created to optimize routing and network design by considering overlapping districts, historical and predicted traffic patterns, and unique customer rules. Drivers receive dynamic updates via the EPG ONE App, and ongoing research and development efforts are producing new capabilities like fuel and charge stop optimization and real-time freight matching.

Greenplan Route Planning and Optimization 

Originally developed within DHL Group and refined through continued collaboration with the University of Bonn, Greenplan is designed for complex delivery and dispatch operations. Embedded in EPG’s TMS and easily integrated with existing systems, it improves planning performance without requiring customers to replace their current technology environment. 

Greenplan uses operational requirements, constraints, order volumes, and business goals to create optimized route plans. These can be fully dynamic, adapting to real-time conditions and ad-hoc orders, or static and IT-free for predictable operations. Custom business rules allow organizations to prioritize speed, cost efficiency, punctuality, or emissions, while the software uncovers efficiencies conventional planning methods may miss. 

Key capabilities include dynamic daily planning, live recalculation, overlapping districts, predictive traffic profiles, individual time windows, and flexible cost and quality models. The development of new capabilities is ongoing. Recent innovations include Fuel & Charge Stop Optimization, which balances detour distance, energy availability, and dynamic fuel and charge pricing, and CargoCrush, which adds profitable spot-market loads to existing routes in near real time, turning unused capacity into additional revenue.
